The Humane Society of Greater Miami/Adopt-A-Pet Celebrates 70 Years of Service to the Homeless Animals of Greater Miami
The Humane Society of Greater Miami/Adopt-A-Pet proudly announces its 70th Anniversary of helping to create a more humane community for the pets and people of Miami-Dade County. Founded by animal lover Charles Pusey in 1936, the Humane Society continues its commitment to sheltering and caring for down-on-their-luck dogs and cats and working tirelessly to find them loving homes with responsible and loving caregivers.
We've come a long way since 1936 when Charles picked up stray dogs and cats in his station wagon and operated an animal shelter out of his two-car garage. Today's Humane Society of Greater Miami has two locations in Miami-Dade County, including our new Soffer and Fine Adoption Center, a truly state-of-the-art pet center in North Miami Beach. We offer programs and services dedicated to reducing pet overpopulation and strengthening the human-animal bond.
To celebrate this important milestone in its history, the Humane Society of Greater Miami invites the community to its 70th Anniversary Party which will be held Sunday, November 5th 2006 at the Soffer and Fine Adoption Center, 16101 West Dixie Highway in North Miami Beach beginning at 12:00 PM. This family and pet-friendly party will feature a variety of unique and exciting activities such as a pet treat bake sale, a bazaar, face painting and a bounce house for kids, educational activities, exciting canine demonstrations, raffle prizes, lots of food and much more!
The Humane Society of Greater Miami's mission is to create a humane community where ALL companion animals have homes with responsible, committed and loving caregivers and to eliminate cruelty, neglect and pet overpopulation. To achieve our mission, we must be so much more than a shelter. And we are. We offer programs and services throughout our community to educate, inform and inspire people to take responsible care of their pets, spay and neuter, and treat animals with the kindness they deserve. We set the example ourselves by guaranteeing every healthy, adoptable animal in our care a second chance, free from the threat of euthanasia.
The Humane Society of Greater Miami/Adopt-A-Pet is an independent, non-profit organization not affiliated with any other Humane Society and receives no funding from government agencies or from any other animal welfare organization. It relies completely on private donations, grants and fundraising events to help raise the money needed to fund its important programs and services.
